About the breed
The Shiba Inu is dog breed native to Japan and is the smallest of spitz breeds. Thanks to its small size, the Shiba Inu is nimble, agile and resilient. It has excellent coping skills and is therefore often used as a hunting dog. The Shiba Inu’s height is usually between 33 and 42 cm at the withers, it has a compact frame with strong muscles. It has thick, double-coated fur and may come in various colours. Shiba Inus usually exhibit independent nature. More than any other dog breed, socialisation and training should begin early in puphood. As a pup, the Shiba Inu resembles a stuffed puppy toy and they do not lose this charm as adult dogs. Their life span is usually 12-15 years but this may be extended, especially if they exercise and walk regularly. The Shiba Inu has a good genetic history, making it less prone to genetic diseases than other dogs. This is especially true if you buy your Shiba Inu pup from a trustworthy breeder who pays special attention to the health of the pups from birth.
