The unique looking Neapolitan Mastiff comes from Italy, where it was bred as a watchdog and livestock guardian dog. It also performs well as a guard dog in other surroundings.

Neapolitan Mastiffs are muscular dogs with a strong build. Their distinctive looks demand respect. Their legs have strong bones and they are muscular. The loose skin on their head makes their eyes look small. Their hair is smooth and short, easy to groom and soft to the touch. Their coat is most commonly blue, but grey, black and mahogany variations are also popular.

Just as most dogs, Neapolitan Mastiffs need to be trained consistently from an early age, and they require patience and care. They are essentially calm dogs that don’t bark much, they are devoted to their owner and loyal to their family, protecting every member of it.
